Aldegon is named after the South-Dutch Lord of St-Aldegonde, who was a successful and hands-on executive advisor of Prince William I of the House of Nassau.

St-Aldegonde was born in Brussels in 1540 and lived in the Seventeen Provinces (currently like Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg).

St-Aldegonde grew up in the same period as the famous renaissance painters like Pieter Bruegel.

He studied in Leuven, Paris and Geneva and mastered many languages.

St-Aldegonde was also a dynamic and influential international diplomat.

In 1583 he became the Mayor of the City of Antwerp.
